McLeoganj: This word was first introduced to me last year while I was planning a trip to Manali. Manali did happen to Stand to my expectation. On this year's Calender Leh was to be explored but unfopeesrtunately couldn't make it to this place. It was a weekend with a holiday on Monday and I had prior plans to visit the IMF in New Delhi and be involved in artificial rock climbing. The wall was under repair so couldn't have made it to it. On Thursday night talked to a friend of mine and compared the cities Shimla and McLeodganj .
The result favored the latter. And then the rest of the deed was accomplished by my cousin. Returned from office and prepared my bag. I wanted to leave as early as possible as I was uncertain to get myself a bus. I left for Kashmere Gate ISBT(New Delhi). I happened to get myself a bus at 22.00. I decided to Switch off my cell-phone. I could not track as to by what time the bus had dropped me off to Dharmshala. The bus fare was 450 Rupees until Dharmshala and for McLeodganji happened to get a local bus charging 10 Rupees. I prefer to explore new places by foot. I wanted to get myself a hotel so that I could have a bath and then spend my two days here. I could not find a satisfactory room at a nominal charge. I thought that I'd look for room on my way back from the waterfall. I started to walk towards the waterfall and on the way there was a small cafe very close to the waterfall there I had not had anything for breakfast so decided to break for a while, I sat there at the cafe for around 2 hours in peace and in that while I had had a maggie and black tea.
I reached the waterfall and the scenery was of some kind of fairyland that I witnessed. We were the little dwarfs and the almighty nature pouring water over us. The droplets showering over us was one of a ind experience. And just then the mist started to engulf the hill and the visibility reduced. Anyways people were sipping coffee, beer and cigarette. And yes I can say that this place is certainly a visit and does have a charm to it. I decided to walk a bit more further and see what is it there. I happened to reach a point further to which I didn't find it save to go on alone as it started to rain. There was this cafe named "Shiva Cafe" guys and girls were having hokkah and drinking beer with their friends. There were a group of Punjabis having Rum and asked me if I'd like to join them. I declined the offer however had snacks with them so that they didn't feel offended and tried hookah for the first time. There was an Israeli reading a book and then after a while we had a conversation. He told he worked with a NGO in Israel. This guy had a lot of inappropriate information about the Indian culture and the diversity India contains. We talked for a while and we exchanged the Information about the culture and religion. The Israeli had left after the rain paused and after some time the Punjabis had given me their phone number and email address and had asked me to stay in their hotel. I felt a bit scared and decided not to stay in their hotel. I returned to the main town and Visited a monastery thinking of it to be the main Dalai Lama monastery any ways it was quite peaceful but it was under renovation. I inquired further and reached the main Dalai Lama Monastery. It did turn out to be a nice experience. I don't know weather I was lucky or it was just by chance, after I had visited the temple and explored it. I went to see if I could meet Dalai Lama. The officer informed me that one needs to seek for an appointment so as to meet him. I thought to explore Dharmshala and return to Delhi. While I was still in the campus I happened to see a few monks of the age not more than 12 were moving the furniture. I some how managed to catch hold of a little monk with a broken chin. I asked him if he had some spare time talk. We sat on the bench near the entry. I asked him his name and how long had been staying in the monastery and for how much more would he be staying here. He told that he had been here for the last two months and had come from Leh. He also told me that he will continue to be here until the end. He also shared with me his daily schedule. He told he woke up at 5" and studied and learned the preaching of Buddhism. I was nice to meet this little monk. On my way back to Dharmshala I stopped at a coffee shop called "Moon-Peak" and had my self an Assam tea and Cold Coffee. The Cold coffee was tasty.
